Working prototype · ordinary webcamHands-free audiobook: controlled with a blink
Overview
Volckano built an audiobook player for people who cannot use their hands. It needs only a webcam.
The problem
Someone who cannot use their hands, and may not be able to move their neck, still needs to play, pause and choose. Most listeners also close their eyes, so the book must not stop.
What we built
- Buttons light up in turn; a quick double blink selects one
- Head control is available for people who can move their neck
- Starts reading on launch, and keeps reading when eyes are closed
The result
The whole player can be used with a single action, a blink.
Start with one small pilot.
Tell us the task. We will say whether it is worth doing.
